Back-to-school orientation day at St. George Academy High School is one of those days that feels exciting, a little scary, and full of possibilities. After a long, relaxing summer holiday, students finally returned to school, ready to begin a brand-new academic year. For some students, it is a familiar place with familiar faces. For others, especially newcomers, it can feel like stepping into a completely new world.

Lots of cheerful greetings, and friends who have not seen each other for weeks gathered in the hallways, comparing stories about their summer adventures. Some students excitedly talk about vacations, while others simply say, “I missed you!” There were plenty of laughter and chatter.

Orientation day is especially important for our new students. They get a chance to meet their teachers, classmates, and school staff. Students also received their timetables, school rules, textbooks, and information about clubs and activities. The day started with welcome speeches from the Principal and Vice-Principal, and fun activities too. Icebreaker games made everyone laugh and feel more comfortable.

One of the best parts of orientation day is getting to know the school. New students were shown around classrooms, laboratories, libraries, sports areas, and cafeterias. It can be surprisingly easy to get lost in a new school, so knowing where everything is, makes the first few days much less stressful!

Of course, SGA orientation day is not only about rules and schedules. It is about starting fresh. A new school year brings new subjects to learn, new friendships to make, and new goals to achieve. Even students who have been at the school for years can feel that familiar “first-day excitement.” Back-to-school orientation day may be only one day, but it marks the beginning of a whole new adventure at SGA.
